What to do as the growing season comes to an end.

The frost is hitting in our area.  We have picked everything that was ready to pick.  Vegetables that can be stored without processing are being put in a cool dry place.  We are finishing up the caning for the year.  We still have more apples, carrots, potatoes and tomatoes to process.   Now what about the garden bed it self.  All vines and dead plants should be removed and put into the compost.  All weeds should be removed from the area.  If you have finished compost to spread this may be a good time to do it and work it into your soil.
