Recycle

I can't hit on this topic enough.  Our environment depends on it.  Communities have made recycling much easier, then in the past, with curb side pick up and drop off stations.  Bigger cities started offering free curbside pick up at least 18 years ago, smaller cities are just now coming on board.  In fact just a few months ago. where I work in town, started to pick up recyclables without a charge for doing so.  When you live in the country getting curbside pick-up for recyclables is pretty limited by the cost.  In our town one of our local grocery stores offers 2 pick up days a week for people to bring their recyclables in. The local land fill has large bins set up to collect recyclables.

Did you know the majority of the recycle centers employ people with developmental disabilities?   This is one of the only jobs available to them that even comes close to paying these individuals minimum wage.    These individuals will sort, prep and bundle the recyclables to be ship to larger processing centers.

Many of you have seen the composite decking materials used on home improvement channels such as HGTV or DIY Net work but have you seen the lawn furniture made out of it at www.bytheyard.net

Rather then throwing an item in the trash, check to see if it is recyclable then put it in a bin.  If you get curbside pick up, check with your provider, many don't require you to sort your recyclables.
